Why Work With an Independent Agent?

When you call a 1-800 number or visit a single-brand insurance office, you get that company's products. Working with an independent agent means someone shops the entire market on your behalf, with no extra cost to you.

Multiple Carriers, One Meeting

Lancaster Cook compares rates and plans from Blue Cross Blue Shield, United Healthcare, Humana, Mutual of Omaha, Aetna, and more in a single conversation, saving you hours of research.

Objective Advice

Lan operates as a fiduciary-minded advisor, and his only obligation is to you, not to any carrier. He's not incentivized to push one company's products, and he has no sales quota. His goal is finding what's genuinely right for your budget and situation.

A Real Local Contact

When you have a claim, a billing question, or need to update your coverage, you call Lancaster Cook directly, not an 800 number staffed by someone who's never met you.

Common Questions About Working With an Independent Insurance Agent

An independent insurance agent represents multiple insurance carriers, not just one company. That means when you work with Lancaster Cook at Hillcrest Life and Health, he compares rates and coverage from Blue Cross Blue Shield, United Healthcare, Humana, Mutual of Omaha, Aflac, Aetna, and others to find what actually fits your needs and budget. Captive agents (like those at a single brand office) can only offer their employer's products. Independent agents shop the market on your behalf at no extra cost to you.

Nothing. Insurance agents are compensated by the insurance carriers when you enroll in a policy. You pay the same premium whether you buy directly from the insurance company or through an agent, but with an agent, you get personalized guidance, ongoing service, and someone to call when you have a claim or a question. There are no fees for consultations, quotes, or plan comparisons.

Our office is in Little Rock, but we serve clients throughout central Arkansas, including Conway, North Little Rock, Maumelle, Benton, Bryant, Sherwood, Jacksonville, Cabot, Hot Springs, Searcy, Pine Bluff, Russellville, and surrounding areas. Many consultations happen over the phone or video call, which makes it easy to work with clients anywhere in the state.

It depends on your situation. Employer-sponsored coverage is often the most affordable option for health insurance, but it may not be the best option for life insurance (group life is typically 1-2× salary, far less than most families need), and it provides no retirement income planning. Many of our clients have employer coverage but work with us to fill gaps: supplemental life insurance, individual health for a spouse not covered by work, annuities for retirement income, or Medicare planning as they approach 65.

We work with multiple carriers including Blue Cross Blue Shield of Arkansas, United Healthcare, Humana, Mutual of Omaha, Aflac, Aetna, and others. The right carrier depends on the product, your health profile, and your budget. We shop the market to find the most competitive rates and the strongest policy for your specific needs.

Yes. Lancaster Cook is AHIP certified (America's Health Insurance Plans), which is the industry standard certification for agents selling Medicare products. We can help with Medicare Supplement (Medigap) plans, Medicare Advantage plans, and Medicare Part D prescription drug plans. We are licensed to sell insurance in Arkansas (License #8021079) and are not affiliated with or endorsed by Medicare or any government agency.
